Loss of a Legend: Leandro Lo

On the morning of August 7, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community lost one of their most beloved heroes. Leandro Lo Pereira do Nascimento was tragically shot by an off-duty police officer after an altercation in a nightclub. Leandro was only 33 years old.

Leandro left an incredible legacy. One of the most accomplished competitive black belts in the history of jiu-jitsu, Leandro had won eight IBJJF World Championships, eight IBJJF Pans titles, two European titles, four Brasileiros titles, and seven Copa Podio Grand Prix titles. But he was more than just a competitor.

Leandro was a leader in the jiu-jitsu community, a dear friend to many, and known by all to be an incredible human being on and off the mat.

Leandro Lo, you will be missed dearly.
