GI REVIEW: The One Vice
GI REVIEW: The One Vice
This season’s new gi drop from Kingz Kimonos is a fresh take on a tried-and-true model: The One Vice Jiu-Jitsu Gi.
The inspiration for this gi came from a recent trip by the Kingz team to “The Magic City” and the resurging popularity of 80’s style and television drama. But you don’t have to be from Miami to enjoy this retro styled gi.
Miami Vice Influenced
What is that “Vice” style from you ask?
From 1984 to 1989, Miami Vice was one of the most-watched crime dramas on television. Featuring Don Johnson as Detective James Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as Detective Ricardo Tubbs, the series is chock-full of 80’s fashion, music and that distinctly Miami vibe.
With The One Vice, Kingz did their own take on the iconic Vice logo and font, pulling in the bold love for vibrant blues and pinks that epitomizes 80’s style.
A War Horse Gi
But Kingz could have designed it on any of their leading gi model. They chose their best-selling The One jiu-jitsu gi because it’s essentially “the people’s gi”. Exceptionally constructed and affordable, The One is the everyday workhorse. Perfect for those thousands of hours of mat time in the academy, or those intense moments on the competition mat.
It’s a lightweight gi – featuring a 400 GSM High Tech Pearl Weave jacket and 10 oz cotton pants – without the flimsiness that comes with most other brands’ “lightweight” gis. This gi stands up to some serious abuse.
It does only come in black, as Kingz felt that any other color really wouldn’t do justice to that hot Miami colorway. But, it IS available in both men’s and women’s cuts!
That Sweet Tote Bag, Though
And if you thought it couldn’t get any better, The One Vice comes with an exclusive matching tote bag!
A boldly turquoise twill cotton tote bag, with durable hot pink polyester straps and embroidered details, the tote bag is a serious statement piece! Perfect for carrying your gi, your no-gi gear, other training stuff, your groceries, pet poodle… the possibilities are endless!
One this is for sure: as a limited edition jiu-jitsu gi, this thing will go fast… As fast as Detective Crockett and Detective Tubbs chasing a bad guy in their Ferrari Daytona Spyder!
